Since election season is upon us, we thought it would be helpful to remind everyone that the State of Arkansas offers a tax credit for donations made to state and local political candidates.
A CREDIT of up to $50 per taxpayer ($100 for a joint return) is allowed against your Arkansas individual income tax liability for cash contributions made to registered state or local candidates or their campaign committees. The credit does not apply to contributions made to candidates for federal offices.
Since this is a tax credit, it comes straight off of your tax bill. It’s essentially free money. Why not use the money that Uncle Sam would take anyway and use it to help elect a conservative candidate?
PLEASE HURRY! The contribution must be made by April 17, 2012 to be claimed on your 2011 tax return and candidates need your help now!
Form AR1800 is required to claim the credit on your income taxes. You can download a pdf of the form here.
Conservative Arkansas will be making endorsements for Primary candidates in early April. We are currently in the process of vetting candidates and will hold a member meeting on Saturday, March 31 to present our findings and vote on endorsements. Your 2012 membership dues must be paid in order to vote. Dues are annual so if you haven’t paid your 2012 dues yet, please do so prior to the meeting to ensure you retain your voting rights. Regular membership is $25/person/year.
To pay by credit card, go to our Membership page and click on “Join via PayPal.” To pay by check or money order, any CA Board Member can accept your dues directly at the next meeting or you can mail to the address below:
