Annual Meeting and Chili Supper To Be Held Saturday, Jan. 18

Our special Annual Meeting & Chili Supper will be on Saturday, January 18. After the brief meeting, we will hear introductions from city, county, state, & federal candidates. If you know of any candidates, especially those in city or county races, please forward this open invitation to them.

What: Conservative Arkansas Annual Meeting and Chili Supper (Potluck)

When: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday, January 18

Where: Spring Creek Fellowship Church
2120 W. Emma Ave
Springdale, AR 72762

The agenda for the Annual Meeting will include:

  • Announcement of the “Conservative of the Year” Award. This award will go to a person who, by nomination and CA Board vote, has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the conservative cause in 2013.
  • Review of endorsement process for 2014 primary elections. We will review our timetable and planned procedures for endorsements in the 2014 primary.
  • Board member elections. The position of Executive Director and Treasurer will be elected. Both Patsy Wootton and Donna Brashears, our current Executive Director and Treasurer, respectively, are seeking reelection. Nominations will also be taken at the meeting. While all are welcome at the meeting, only paid members may vote in a board election. If you are a 2013 or 2014 member, please sign in upon entry to verify your membership and receive a voting slip.

After the short meeting, we will have a chili supper to kick off the election season. The meal will be potluck so we ask that everyone bring a chili-appropriate side dish (chips, crackers, cheese, cornbread, etc) or dessert. Conservative Arkansas will provide the chili and drinks. During the meal, we will briefly hear from all candidates present so that our members can begin to put names with faces. Again, this is an open invitation to any city, county, state, or federal candidates to introduce themselves to the group. Please let any candidates know of this open invitation – especially those in local and county races as it is typically more difficult to connect with these candidates. There will be a candidate sign-in table at the meeting. We ask that all candidates please sign in upon arrival to ensure they are acknowledged and given time to speak.

Membership donations will remain at $25 (Regular) or $100+ (Sustaining) per person per calendar year until February 1, after which the minimum donation for membership will increase to $30. Donations may be made via cash or check at any meeting or via mail at our address below. Credit cards are accepted on our website. Annual membership renewals and applications will be especially important this year because membership is required to vote in the endorsements for primary elections coming up in April 2014. All membership applications must be approved by the board so please sign up as early as possible. Board review for membership is required in our bylaws for the purpose of preventing non-conservatives from packing the endorsement election vote. While there is a minimum donation for membership, please consider supporting Conservative Arkansas’ work with an additional donation (up to $5,000 max per year).
